Title: Senior Marketing Manager
Summary of Position:
The Senior Marketing Manager is a key member of our small but mighty marketing team. You’ll focus primarily on three areas: 1) leading planning and coordination of marketing activity across all programs and channels, 2) retail store marketing activity to drive awareness, traffic and sales at our two Southern California Adopt & Shop stores, 3) planning and implementing events across our range of programs, both local and national in scope.  Plus, as part of our nimble and growing organization, in this role you’ll have the opportunity to impact a variety of our initiatives. You’ll report to our Chief Marketing Officer, supervise a Marketing Associate, and work closely with the rest of the marketing team, other departments and other partner groups.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Lead development and implementation of quarterly marketing plan activity
  • Take lead in translating annual marketing goals and messages into quarterly multi-channel campaigns that support our national registry and other programs, as well as Adopt & Shop
  • Work with marketing team members including channel owners (e.g., email, social, content) to develop and implement coordinated campaigns
  • Identify and develop campaign ideas including partnerships or promotional concepts that support priority programs and messages
  • Manage the planning/implementation process, and identify opportunities to streamline or improve
Develop and implement retail marketing programs for Adopt & Shop stores
  • Own the customer traffic metric and activity that drives people to our stores
  • Identify customer targets for the store and develop programs to attract them
  • Build and manage the marketing calendar to drive awareness, traffic and sales (adoptions, services and retail products),  including:
    • Plan seasonal campaigns and promotions, working with store General Manager on product and service promotions
    • Lead project management of store marketing initiatives, in coordination with marketing team, store teams and others
    • Organize in-store events; coordinate planning with store teams and others
    • Identify opportunities and plan local/community marketing
    • Create marketing communications about store campaigns, promotions and events to inform store associates and guide messaging
    • Analyze results, identify key takeaways and action plans based on the learning
Event Planning and Management
  • Lead planning and management of marketing events, the MFA annual gala and similar events
  • Partner with other departments as marketing lead for other organizational events such as conferences  / trade shows and the annual Saving Pets Challenge
  • Provide strategic guidance for event development and ensure brand fit
  • Organize and manage event details, program activities, timetables, budgets and other executional details
  • Develop marketing / promotional plans for events, including email, public relations, social media and other elements as applicable
  • Other activities may include booking venues, negotiating fees, working with outside event planners, caterers and other vendors, arranging and training event staff, developing and managing run-of-show plans, event set up / staffing / teardowns
What Else is Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
  • Minimum of  7 years consumer marketing experience, including retail brands
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Willing and able to work outside of traditional 9-5 hours to attend/manage events at our stores or other locations, etc.
  • A love of pets and comfort working with and around them
  • Experience working in pet products/services or animal welfare a plus
