Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for working directly with volunteers of Michelson Found Animals and Adopt & Shop. The Volunteer Coordinator will assist in the training and ongoing development of volunteers within the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Host volunteer orientations and trainings.
  • Identify and training volunteers to become Training Lead Volunteer and Shift Lead Volunteers.
  • Assist in developing systems, process, and materials for training, placement, supervision and evaluation of volunteers.
  • Manage ongoing training of volunteers to ensure their ability to perform at a high level and represent organization professionally.
  • Assist Volunteer Department team in some day-to-day communication, scheduling, and management of volunteer activities to meet the needs of program areas and partner organizations.
  • Proactively and constructively identify volunteer issues and report back to the team.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
  • Rarely lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Required Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience with recruitment, training, scheduling, management, and retention of volunteers.
  • Able to work under pressure to prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines within a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software applications strong emphasis on PowerPoint, Word and Excel; experience with volunteer database application(s) preferred.
  • Proficiency in the Google App Suite is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare issues is helpful but not required.
